SIX MINUTES, SIX THOUSAND YEARS An Eclipse Expedition Through Egypt's Nile Valley and Sahara

Cairo – Assiut – Desert Eclipse Camp – Cairo
31 July – 9 August 2027 | 9 nights / 10 days
OVERVIEW
Six minutes and twenty-three seconds — that is how long the sky over Upper Egypt will turn to night on 2 August 2027, one of the longest total solar eclipses of the century. This journey puts you right on its path of totality, and builds an unforgettable Egyptian adventure around it.
We combine the energy of Cairo with the quiet, authentic city of Assiut on the Nile, before heading deep into Egypt's Western Desert for the celestial main event — and for two nights of glamping under some of the darkest skies on Earth.
After arriving in Cairo, the journey follows the Nile Valley south to Assiut, our base while we prepare for eclipse day. When the moment arrives, nothing else matters: no sightseeing, no long transfers — just an open sky and six extraordinary minutes.
Once the eclipse has passed, we turn toward the desert: two nights of glamping, a night at Star Camp among the White and Black Deserts, and a final, easier stretch back in Cairo's leafy Maadi district before departure.
