Cairo · Assiut · Total Solar Eclipse · Western Desert · Kharga · Cairo

31 July – 10 August 2027  |  10 nights / 11 days

Ten nights. One sky-darkening moment. And a stretch of desert most travellers never reach.

OVERVIEW

For eleven days, this journey moves between two extremes: the sudden, total darkness of an eclipsed sun over open desert, and the quiet comfort of Nile-side hotels and world-class museums.

It begins in Cairo, continues south to Assiut, and reaches its defining moment on 2 August 2027, when the Total Solar Eclipse is observed from the Dabuka Desert Observation Camp — a site chosen specifically for its uninterrupted view, far from any city lights or crowds.

What follows is not a quick trip home, but an extended expedition deeper into the Western Desert: nights spent camping beneath a sky untouched by light pollution, and days exploring Jara Cave, the dunes of Abu Mukharraq and Dakhla, and the remote Abu Jarrah and Shawshaw Mountain areas — landscapes far removed from Egypt's usual tourist routes.

The pace softens in Kharga Oasis, where a hotel pool and a slower rhythm mark the return to comfort, before the final days bring travellers back to Cairo for the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Pyramids of Giza — a fitting close to a journey that spans both the cosmic and the ancient.
