The 2027 Total Solar Eclipse in Egypt
On August 2, 2027, Egypt will witness the longest total solar eclipse of the century — over six minutes of complete darkness in the middle of the day.
With its clear skies, dramatic deserts, ancient temples, and the timeless Nile, Egypt is one of the most extraordinary places on earth to experience this rare celestial event. At Dabuka, we craft journeys that let you experience the eclipse not just as a spectacle, but as part of Egypt’s history, culture, and landscape.
"Even the sun, eternal and mighty, bows in awe over this ancient land."
Join Dabuka for an immersive journey along the Nile and beyond — where history, culture, and this rare cosmic event meet.

Expert solar physicists for the 2027 total solar eclipse Egypt tours
Meet the minds behind the Sun's Secrets
Two extraordinary solar physicists. One unforgettable eclipse.
For the 2027 total solar eclipse, we proudly host Prof. Shadia Habbal and Dr. Benjamin Boe — international leaders in eclipse-based solar research, sharing their knowledge exclusively with our guests.

Dr. Benjamin Boe
A rising star in modern eclipse and corona physics
Dr. Boe is a specialist in cutting-edge eclipse observations and the fine structure of the solar corona. Now Assistant Professor of Physics at Wentworth Institute of Technology, he trained under Prof. Habbal in Hawaii and has become one of the few researchers mastering the full spectrum of corona analysis — from electron temperatures and magnetic geometries to K- and F-corona separation.
His lectures will bring fresh, state-of-the-art insights into the science behind the 2027 eclipse.

Prof. Shadia Habbal
One of the world's leading solar eclipse scientists
Prof. Habbal is a globally renowned expert on the solar corona and the driving forces behind the solar wind. She has led international eclipse expeditions for more than 15 years, heading the famous Solar Wind Sherpas and receiving continuous support from NASA and the National Science Foundation.
Her groundbreaking research has reshaped how we understand the Sun's magnetic field, auroras, and high-energy solar phenomena.
We are honored to welcome her as a keynote speaker during the 2027 total solar eclipse.
Join us for an unforgettable journey combining world-class science, expert guidance, and the total solar eclipse Egypt 2027 experience.

The Story of a Celestial Encounter
Black Sun over the Libyan Desert
A First-Hand Account by Didier Basset
March 29, 2006: In the imposing Libyan Desert, west of the Tazerbo oasis, a group of desert enthusiasts prepared for a magical encounter—the sun would meet the moon. For the author, it was already his ninth eclipse, but the emotion remained as powerful as ever.
Among the natural phenomena our Earth has to offer, a total solar eclipse is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. No two eclipses are ever the same. The solar prominences—gigantic hydrogen 'flames' of a beautiful pink color—can take on many shapes. The silvery-white solar corona changes its appearance depending on the sun's activity.
The eclipse spanned four continents, starting in Brazil, crossing the Atlantic, reaching Africa from Togo, then passing through Benin, Nigeria, Niger, Libya, Egypt, and Turkey before vanishing into Siberia. The Libyan Desert was chosen for its promise of clear weather and pure atmosphere.
"It is hard to put into words the emotion such a spectacle arouses in someone who has never experienced it."
As only a thin crescent remained, the light steadily faded. The temperature dropped; a gentle breeze began to blow—the wind of the eclipse. Suddenly, at dizzying speed, the shadow wrapped us in its dark cloak. The moment was both magnificent and unsettling.
A dazzling white corona replaced the thin crescent. Two small pinkish flames emerged from the lunar silhouette—solar prominences. Large silver streamers appeared. The temperature dropped by twelve degrees. Four minutes felt both long and short.
As the solar crescent widened again and daylight reclaimed its place, excited comments flowed. Each encounter with a total eclipse seizes us with the same exceptional emotional intensity.
